TARUMA – Empowering Youth Through Rites of Passage

TARUMA – Empowering Youth Through Rites of Passage

Taruma is a Swahili word that means a supporting piece of wood, strut or spoke of a wheel. The title and the book express the absolute necessity for young people to receive such support from family and community leaders during this transition period, imparting to them skills and grasp understanding vital as anchors as they launch into their unknown future.

This book proposes that church communities can maximize on this transitional opportunity, and working closely with families, create rites of passage that point teenagers to Christ and provide a solid anchor in the storms of life as an adult. Many Churches in Kenya are already adopting this concept with excellent results.
